What some people don’t realize is just how amazing the breakthroughs of modern technology really are. This could have something to do with the fact that many groundbreaking inventions and discoveries seem too far-fetched to be real.
An excellent example of this phenomenon is known as Vantablack, and it’s listed by The Guinness Book of World Records as being the world’s darkest substance.
This is Vantablack in all its glory. When it was introduced, the company that manufactured it from tiny carbon nanotubes reported that Vantablack can absorb up to 99.96 percent of the light that contacts the material.
I know that sounds fantastical, but after seeing a few videos of Vantablack in action, I definitely believe those claims.
The material is used primarily for military and astronautical purposes. For example, Vantablack has been used in telescopes to absorb extra light which allows the viewer to see more distant celestial bodies.
Because of this, Vantablack is currently not available to the general public. Anyone who wishes to come into contact with the material must be cleared by the manufacturer.
