Herat, Afghanistan — Flayed by a fire she began herself,  Aatifa’s childlike frame is painstakingly wrapped in thick bandages — her  shrieks of “Allah” echoing around the hospital ward where surgeons prepare to  graft skin back on to her skeletal torso.

Her wide blue eyes alternating between flashes of anger and  wells of tears, the 16-year-old Afghan girl struggles to explain what led her to  douse her own body in petrol, step outside and light a match.

Married at the age of 14, the young carpet-weaver, who has nine  brothers and sisters, said her mother-in-law criticised her housework and  encouraged her mechanic husband to beat her for allowing her mother to visit too  often.

Baby Bird Lands On A Guy"s Guitar Mid-Song, But The Band Just Keeps On Playing!

What happens to this band mid-song might just be the most Disney-esque moment ever to happen in real life.

While Josh Williams and his band were performing at the Doyle Lawson Bluegrass Festival at Denton Farm Park in Denton, North Carolina, a small baby bird landed right on his guitar while he was in the middle of playing his guitar and singing. The best part is how he keeps his cool and finishes the song, all while the little bird just sits on his guitar.

Not that I’m surprised, with a singing voice like that he’s clearly used to getting all the chicks.

Following Thursday night’s Game 6 blowout in Boston, needless to say Celtics fans were a little upset.

One particular fan, coincidentally sitting by the tunnel leading to the Miami Heat locker room, decided to illustrate his frustration by pouring his drink on an unsuspecting LeBron James.

It’s slightly possible that the fan was just trying to cool James off after a sizzling 45-point performance, but either way James showed class and for the most part shrugged off the gesture.

Word is still out on exactly which $9 beer was wasted by the fan at large.

In his Saturday radio address, Obama touted his “all-of-the-above strategy” that stresses development of alternative energy sources as well as increased domestic oil and gas production. He chided Republicans for promoting “three-point plans for two-dollar gas,” and said a long-term plan in required.

“Ending this cycle of rising gas prices won’t be easy, and it won’t happen overnight,” Obama said. “But that’s why you sent us to Washington — to solve tough problems like this one.”

Republicans say Obama policies have blocked energy development — particularly the proposed Keystone XL pipeline from Canada to the Gulf Coast, and one of the topics of the Republican radio address.

Gov. Jack Dalrymple, R-N.D., said North Dakota has doubled its oil production in recent years, “but we cannot effectively market our crude oil domestically without a large North-South pipeline.”

Dalrymple also protested high budget deficits and new regulations from the Obama administration as impediments to economic development.

Obama and aides said the Keystone pipeline still requires environmental review, and that in any case it will be years before the pipeline could transport any oil.

These Creepy Dolls Started Showing Up At Random Houses. WTF.

Last week, some residents in the City of San Clemente, California started finding porcelain dolls left outside of their homes. According to police, up to 11 dolls were found outside of homes with young daughters around 10-years-old who all attend the same school. No messages were left with the dolls.

That is creepy enough in and of itself, but it gets worse. The dolls allegedly looked a lot like the little girls living in each home.

As you might expect this had their parents concerned and they got the police involved. Authorities should also consider hiring in exorcist. Just look at these dolls, they are so creepy.

This week police investigators managed to track the person who left the dolls.

According to investigators, an adult woman left the dolls with the families. All of the families who received the dolls attend the same church she does. The woman said she was cleaning out a family doll collection and decided to leave them as a surprise for the girls. Unfortunately, she also was leaving behind some nightmare fuel.

Police said that leaving the dolls is not considered a crime.

As Twitchy reported, James O’Keefe and Project Veritas recently turned their lenses on the Obamacare navigator program and Enroll America in particular. Project Veritas caught navigators actively encouraging people to lie about their income in order to secure lower health care premiums. Enroll America, ostensibly a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, also seemed to be sharing information with the very partisan Battleground Texas.

O’Keefe now says that Enroll America has been pressured to respond. KCEN TV reports:

Chris Tarango, the Texas Enroll America communications head, was scheduled to appear Thursday morning but did not.

A video released yesterday now has him in potential hot water…

“Enroll America being that it’s a state leadership role and being the sensitivity with the 501(c)(3) status, this conversation never happened,” Tarango said in the undercover video.

The conversation he’s trying to say never happened is about the alleged sharing of people’s personal information after they sign up for Obamacare.

Watchdog group Project Veritas sent someone undercover in Austin — claiming to be from a political action committee.

In this secret video, they also prompted this comment:

“I will talk to one person that I think might be open to having this conversation behind closed doors…the person that I’m telling you, that I’m referring to is like me in the leadership position, and so he could export the list if he wanted to…”

But that may be against the law. In the video, Tarango goes on to say that if he had a few beers with this leadership person — giving up such information wouldn’t be the craziest thing he’s ever heard.

A spokesperson for Enroll America said, “We’re reviewing those statements, and will take appropriate action.”

Unfortunately, Warriors fans aren’t too hot on owner Joe Lacob right now. In fact, the Oracle Arena crowd booed Lacob mercilessly when he took the microphone to say a few words during the halftime presentation. What did Lacob do to draw their ire? Well, he recently traded star guard Monta Ellis to the Milwaukee Bucks for injured center Andrew Bogut. And, prior to the season, coach Mark Jackson guaranteed a playoff berth, but the Warriors once again are destined for the lottery.

“Tonight is about two things, embracing history and respect,” Lacob began, stumbling and looking down at his note card as he was met with immediate boos. “The Warriors ownership, the current owners, our owners, think it’s very important to embrace history.

The booing was so loud and long that Lacob was visibly shaking and struggling to make it through his prepared remarks.

Meet Nick. He is a young man with disabilities, but more importantly, he is a young man with motivation. He spent seven months completing an online vocational training program called eTrac. The program helped prepare him for the work force. Once finished, he applied for a job at Walmart. He completed two interviews with the staff there. Then, one afternoon, Walmart left a voicemail for him on his phone.

He wasn’t sure what to expect, but they wanted him to call back.

So, with hands shaking, Nick called the company back. What happened next is so wonderful. It’s impossible to watch this without smiling.

Throughout the call, Nick was still shaking, but had a HUGE smile on his face.

They offered him a job as a greeter… and he politely accepted.

Then, once he hung up, it was time to celebrate!

We’re so happy for Nick. He worked hard to get this far and he will do great!

How could his bright attitude and smile not cheer up everyone he meets? eTrac is a wonderful program and hopefully it, and other programs, help those with disabilities enter the workforce. Russian Cyclist Miraculously Avoids Injury After A Terrible Car Crash.

This incredible security camera footage shows the moment when a Russian cyclist narrowly avoided being hit by a speeding car and survived being knocked off his bike by a truck. Yes, it’s that intense.

The cyclist was just going about his day, crossing a road at a pedestrian crossing, when his guardian angel stepped in to save his skin. As the cyclist crossed the Moscow road, a car drove right into the path of a truck approaching the crossing, sending it hurtling towards the poor cyclist. Incredibly, the man somehow avoided being hit by the car before being clipped by the truck.

As crazy as it sounds, nobody was badly injured in the incident.

There are so many things that would have had to happen perfectly to lead up to that point in time. If the driver of the car had checked if the door was locked one more time, or if the cyclist had brushed his teeth two more times that morning, things could have been very different. This really makes you wonder…

Rubio cited rappers Wiz Khalifa and Jay-Z and also quoted several lines from “The Godfather.”

Rubio read a famous line given by Al Pacino’s character in “The Godfather”: “Don’t ever take sides with anyone against the family ever again.” Rubio compared that situation to the relationship between the Senate and President Barack Obama on the administration’s drone program.

“We deserve to have the rights to these answers,” Rubio said. “We have a job to do that we’re held responsible for.”

Rubio also alluded to the “modern-day poet” Wiz Khalifa’s song, “Work Hard, Play Hard,” and Jay-Z’s “A Week Ago.”

Man Pushes Brussels Sprout Up A Mountain With His Face For Charity.

What’s the craziest thing you can think of that anyone’s every done for charity? Ok, got it? Well Englishman Stuart Kettell, has it beat. Last week, instead of doing a marathon or maybe walking across the country, he decided to push a Brussels sprout up Mount Snowdon (the highest mountain in Whales) using just his nose.

Yep, that’s right.

It took Kettell four days in total to complete his 3,560 foot journey crawling on his hands and knees. He wore special gloves, knee pads, and a face protector to ensure he didn’t injure himself. Kettell used a total of 22 different sprouts over the course of his adventure. His goal was to raise £5,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. According to his fund raising page he’s nearly at his goal.

Kettell’s friend hiked the journey along with him, and filmed the whole thing for a mini documentary they’re looking to release. Check out the trailer.

This also isn’t the first stunt Kettell has pulled for charity for Macmillan Cancer Support (though it probably is the craziest). Here are a few others.
