On ‘Daily Show,’ Obama calls American deaths in Libya ‘not optimal’

http://twitter.com/#!/RBPundit/status/259042590974963712

You might remember a little kerfuffle a couple of nights back during the second presidential debate, when moderator Candy Crowley helpfully stepped in and backed up President Obama on his claim that he had called the Sept. 11 assault on the U.S. consulate in Libya “an act of terror” the very next day. Why was that such a big deal? Well, aside from the fact that it wasn’t true, it reopened a very serious question: Why won’t the president finally come clean on what happened in Benghazi?

It took two weeks and an appearance on “The View” for Obama to finally admit that the attack which led to the deaths of four Americans in Libya “wasn’t just a mob action.” So, while the president takes baby steps toward the ugly truth about Benghazi on entertainment television, can we expect a more decisive statement on “The Daily Show” tonight? Apparently not.

What’s #notoptimal to Barack Obama? Four dead Americans.

You heard correctly. While the Left has become apoplectic over Mitt Romney’s “binders” comment, their leader has evolved from viewing the deaths of four Americans as “bumps in the road” to something even more outrageous. The Washington Post has a preview of Obama’s comments to TV clown Jon Stewart, which are set to air tonight:

“Here’s what I’ll say. When four Americans get killed, it’s not optimal. We’re going to fix it. All of it,” Obama said. “The government is a big operation and any given time something screws up. And you make sure that you find out what’s broken and you fix it. Whatever else I have done throughout the course of my presidency the one thing that I’ve been absolutely clear about is that America’s security comes first, and the American people need to know exactly how I make decisions when it comes to war, peace, security, and protecting Americans. And they will continue to get that over the next four years of my presidency.”

When four Americans “get killed, it’s not optimal”? Outraged Americans were quick to launch the #NotOptimal hashtag to highlight a few other things that are broken in Obama’s “big operation.” Any other little screw-ups on the fix-it list?

Haven’t you all forgotten something? This isn’t a debate, it’s an appearance on Comedy Central — Obama’s sixth appearance on “The Daily Show” overall and his second as sitting president. So where are the laughs? Or did Joe Biden use them all up during his debate?

Oh no, they’ll leave it in. And why not? Romney said “binders,” after all.

Had Romney said what Obama said, the Beltway Media would be exploding right now. But, it was Obama… so they’ll wait for Romney’s response.
